Michael Benson works at the intersection of art and science. An artist, writer, and filmmaker, he’s a Fellow of the NY Institute of the Humanities and a past Visiting Scholar at the MIT Media Lab’s Center for Bits and Atoms. In addition to Space Odyssey he has written such books as Cosmigraphics: Picturing Space Through Time, a finalist for the Science and Technology award at the 2015 Los Angeles Times “Festival of Books.” Benson’s planetary landscape photography exhibitions have been shown internationally. Wahrscheinlich das letzte noch fehlende Werk in Bezug auf 2001.Nachdem durch diverse Veröffentlichungen (The Making of...., The 2001 File ) und Ausstellungen (Filmmuseum Frankfurt) schon fast alles abgefrühstückt ist.Man hätte es auch "Space Odyssey : The unsung heroes" nennen können.Benson schafft es dass z.b. die ganzen Special Effects Leute ihre Sicht der Dinge dem Leser erläutern können.Im Gegensatz zu der momentanen Lobhudelei im Rahmen des 50. Geburtstags des Films wagt er auch einen kritischen Blick hinter die Kulissen und es wird klar dass der Drehort in Borehamwood für manchen Mitwirkenden nicht nur angenehme Aspekte hatte.Lesenswert.

Spannend von der ersten bis zur Seite, die ich gerade lese. Ein tolles Buch, dass nicht nur Einblicke im speziellen in den Schaffensprozess eines der Filmmeilensteine überhaipt ermöglicht, sondern ganz generell in das "Filmemachen".Ja! Kaufen!
